
Rabbi Chaim Safren
Rabbi Chaim Safren is the head of the
Calgary Community Kollel. He grew up in
Buffalo, N.Y. where, amongst other things,
he prepared for the Canadian winters. After
receiving a bachelor of science degree from
MIT, he spent four years studying Torah in
Israel. Returning to the states, he attended
the prestigious Beth Medrash Govoha in
Lakewood, N.J. where he received his
Rabbinic ordination. After more than two and
a half rewarding decades in Jewish
education, he became well known for his
unique humanistic approach combining acuity
with wit and humor. In September, .07, he
came to Calgary to head the kollel. He lives
in Haysboro with his wife, Peggy, and
daughter, Adina.
